What are Telomeres?

Telomeres are protective caps at the ends of our DNA strands, similar to the plastic tips on shoelaces. Every time a cell divides, the telomere shortens. When they become too short, the cell dies. Chronic stress releases cortisol, which accelerates this shortening process.

Mindfulness as a Genetic Shield

Practices like meditation, deep breathing, and keeping a gratitude journal lower cortisol levels, activating the telomerase enzyme to protect DNA structures.
